About 10,000 ballots are still to be counted in Yolo

The Yolo County Elections Office has about 10,000 remaining votes to process. These are vote-by-mail ballots turned in at polling places on Tuesday, as well as provisional ballots.

The votes potentially could change the outcome in one or two tight races, including the Woodland school board race in Trustee Area 1, where only five votes separated challenger Tania Tafoya (652 votes) and incumbent Art Pimentel (647 votes) in returns tallied on Election Night. That contest is so close that a manual recount of ballots is likely, according to Elections Office staffers.

365体育滚球Tom Stanionis, chief of staff in the Elections Office, said a total of 8,016 vote-by-mail envelopes — not all of which will contain a ballot, he said — were turned in at the polls Tuesday. An additional 2,260 provisional ballots were cast on Election Day.

Stanionis estimated that elections staffers should have final numbers by the end of next week.
